this past week while treating a Syrian Refugee family in my dental practice, I re learned the value of community. Essentially there is little to no money to properly meet their dental needs which are immediate, acute and chronic. I was attempting to treat all their needs myself, but I found myself in over my head. I called an oral surgeon, and an endodontist (root canal specialist) and they agreed to see them and treat them for free, because I was. I since learned that 2 other dentists in my community are treating other Syrian refugee families for nothing because I was and because as I see it, it is simply the right thing to do!
Darkness is the absence of light
Evil is the absence of good
There are times
When the Light
Is clouded by
Stresses of our own making
Clouded thoughts
Obscure the Light
stumbling
Trying to create an artificial light
That mimics
But it neither illumines
Nor guides
But slides into
Independent
Self-aggrandizement
I need no one
…. Easier, faster, I’ll just do it myself
Alluring truth
often
Self martyrdom
Perhaps is the
Fear of truly being known
Fear of disappointment
Fear of facing the darkness that lies within
In Christ
Is community
Self is laid down
Weaknesses held by each other
Vulnerable
Interdependent
Needing each other
In Christ
With God
The Spirit unites
There we can be bound together
And The Light
Illumines our path
