Vigil for murdered missing indigenous women

I weep this day for Candy Little Light.

she was tragically

brutally

found beaten and murdered in her Calgary apartment on Monday.

please join me in praying for her family (no known suspect) especially Danni.

this saturday is the annual ceremony for missing and murdered indigenous women. please join in . if you can not attend stand in silence, light8holding each of their breaths within you, then in solidarity and collectively let us cry out.  NO MORE.  NO MORE. NO MORE.

Listen
Turn into the wind
And hear the voices
Crying out from the earth
We are many
Our lament
Cries out
Collectively
From our scattered burial grounds Un- marked
Un-named
Un-known
Fear and violence arrested our breath And began our restless roaming Wailing for recognition
Each voice
Each name
Speak now from across the veil
We are infusing our song
Into you
Carry us within
And let not your voice be silent
Least it happen again
And again

ash wednesday

O what God can do with dust

Spoken into the dark void

The atoms obey

And Light was

And water

And bacteria

And plants

Life

O what God can do with dust

This same dust

Marks my brow

And God says

Let there be

Light

Let there be

Water

Let there be

Life

O what God can do with dust

Breathe your words

Into my dust

Stirring me out of complacency

Into life giving

Light

May all hear in the darkness

God’s voice

Calling out

Let there be

Life

O what God can do with dust

Be marked this day

Listen

For God speaks

And the atoms obey

Love

As I pass under

our still lit christmas lights that arc over our driveway

I smile inside

And out

Closing my eyes

I feel the wet snow on my face

And with eyes still closed

Avery leads me down the road

Walking blindly in trust

Love calls

Again

Love doesn’t knock

Or send a polite email

But barges in

Flamboyantly announcing

Despite the odds of so much pain

I am here

Always

And

Again

drawing near

The familiar stories of advent

Call us into the

Prophetic song

dreams

Angels

courage

New paths

faith

Signs

The familiar stories of advent

Call us into our own narrative

Sing out a new song

Dream

Explore new paths

Dig deep for the courage to live

Seeking signs

In Love

With Hope and Joy to guide

And peace

Against all odds

Will flood your soul

Luke 3: 10-18

Unknown

The people asked John, What should we do?

If a wise woman were in our midst

I might ask… what should we do?

If an anointed man made Himself known

We might ask… what should we do?

What should we do

About the daily violence

About the refugees

About the warming oceans

About the missing indigenous women

About our waste

About racism

About sexual discrimination

About hatred

About how so many admire and follow Donald Trump

About

About

Such pain

Such suffering

Such injustice

Retreating inward

I want to protect my children and what I think is mine….

And bury my head under the covers

Maybe it will all go away…..

Snow will land

All will seem white , pretty, beautiful

And the problems

Will fad into the recesses

Even for a moment

The answer lies in the text

Replace the leaders with those that are relevant

In the first year of Trudeau’s leading, when Kathleen Wynne was premier of Ontario John Tory was mayor…… The word of the Lord came to………

Say it

Say your name

The voice

Your voice crying out from the wilderness

       declare the message

Make way

The day is coming

The mountains be made low

The winding roads made straight

And we shall see the day of salvation

And what follows

Are we the current brood of vipers?

This call

This voice

My voice

Your voice

Crying out against all that makes God angry

The raping of our land

Our disposable society that dumps our waste into the oceans

The raped murdered missing

Nameless indigenous women

Cry out from the grave

Shame

the oceans cry out

SHAME

Stop the wastefulness

This laziness

This slothfulness

Wake up

And do what is right

Are we so bold?

To proclaim the message

O God may our souls be on fire

Help us rise up

John’s voice cried out

Make our voice heard

Speak out against violence

Be not indifferent about exploitation, oppression and injustice

Make way

The day of the Lord is coming

Come Lord Jesus Come

snow

Fresh snow
The forest sparkles
Breathtaking beauty
Still
IMG_0272Silent
Magical
I tread lightly
Till
News headlines
Toss a weight into my gut
The tugging begins
How to retain this moment of beauty with
The balance the despairing world
How to be centred and alive breathing in god’s majestic painting And be present to the suffering and pain?
Only in Christ
Can the tensions exist
And peace be found
Help me
O God
Help me

Time

Once
A ticker tape concept
Ever forward
Yearning for the next moment, day, season Barely noticing the busy years
With never enough hours
Then we begin
To spend time looking backwards
Fearing the gaps in
In the ticker tape
God calls us to let go of time
Surrender
Our time
Our moments
Cling not to the ordinary
Or anxious worries of the day
But reach beyond
the linear

into advent To live in Christ’s time Jesus came

Died…. Rose…. And we await His coming again.

each year, traditions call

so we decorate

with “christmas STUFF” listening to

“christmas music” to get us in the right “christmas spirit”

without them

are we called in?

can we hear the spirit lifting us out of the ordinary?

decorate our minds, O God

with silence
